HOW TO ADJUST YOUR WINDFOIL HARNESS ENDS ?

You have several possibilities to adjust your harness ends and you are looking to optimize to gain some knots in windfoil ? We give you our advice.

Feel free to consult our complete guide to learn windfoil .

01

LONG OR SHORT?

On slalom foil, speed or on sessions where the objective is to make maximum speed, we use harness ends up to 40 cm. This will allow you to hang completely from the sail and to have a strong support on the front foot and mast foot. This length of harness end works well if you also start “on canvas”. A long harness end will bring a lot of control (be careful with your back though…).

02

FORWARD or BACKWARD

For windfoil practice, we recommend that you move the harness ends forward. Indeed, the sail has a rather moderate tension on the tack. We tend to pull the sheet well to erase the hollow on the back of the sail. The harness ends are moved forward, closer to the front hand than to the back hand, in order to be able to sail slightly open if an “uncontrolled” gust of wind should pass. The risk of having the harness ends too far back is that at the slightest risk, you will be pulled out…

All you have to do is test and optimize your settings!
